Leading Canadian Intermediary Continues to Grow

H. Ross Totten, FCIP, CCIB, President & CEO, Totten Insurance Group Inc. / Groupe Gestionnaire D'Assurances Totten Ltée, and Ken Rayner, President, Cule Insurance, announced today that Totten Group has acquired Cule (Canadian Underwriters for Licensed Establishments) effective January 31, 2011.

Cule is an insurance brokerage wholesaler located in Toronto Ontario, dealing with over 100 brokers in Ontario, Manitoba and Atlantic Canada. Formed two years ago, with a specific expertise in hospitality and hard to place property accounts, they have expanded rapidly in their specialty niches. Their commitment to serving retail brokers within the entertainment industry will now be expanded to offer the full range of products written by Totten Group, including Professional Liability, Environmental, Specialty Personal lines, Protective Services, and larger limits in all classes of Specialty Property and Casualty, backed by a number of national and international markets.

The combination of Totten and Cule now makes Totten Group the largest intermediary in the Hospitality business across Canada, with many years of experience in the class. Experienced, stable markets and the broadest wordings available, now make Totten Group the priority choice for over 2000 brokers in placing their Hospitality accounts. In addition, hard to place property including income properties in foreclosure; properties in receivership; mortgagee in possession and vacant risks previously written by Cule are now part of the diversified products offered to all Totten brokers.
